Today we found out the groups we are going to be in for the Colleges different progression videos which is Unit 62. I am the director in a group with Emily, who is the editor. And Ester who is the camera woman. While I think I will do a good job as the director, as I enjoy being in control, I hope that the rest of the production team don't let me down. We didn't have an opportunity to talk about what we are going to do as a group because we did some work on exporting from Premiere Pro with Andy. This allowed us to see what exporting in different formats will do to the final video. This did seem like a bit of a wasted exercise as we are nearly finished on the course.

Then we watched two of the past videos made for the college presentation days to see what has been done before and what we should do differently. The two videos were very different, and really helped to show what we should and shouldn't include in our own productions. We spoke about what the clients wanted and didn't want s to include which brought up some issues, like how we would introduce the different courses.

Today we did work toward the presentation day videos. After we found out the groups yesterday, Debbie wrote up a list of the different subjects that we have to create videos for and split them up. In groups we then had to research these different subject so that we have information on the course and also have a vague idea about what sort of content we are going to film. I research the 'Access to H.E'  which is a progression course that allows people without the needed qualification to go to university. It provides them with the basic skills needed and gives them a qualification that is equivalent to 3 A levels. This is an academic course with very few practical elements which will make the content very limited. This means there will be very little input from this part of the course. I also research the Florists courses at Hadlow college, which is one of the most popular courses there. As this is much more practical, it will be a much more interesting part of the video. It...

This was the first day of filming. My group went out to collect footage from West Kent College. We weren't focusing on one specific part of the college, we were collecting establishing shots from all over the college. We started at the front of the college, so we could work our way through the college and finish up back at our classroom. We got a couple of panning shots at the front and then progressed to the canteen. The footage we collected wasn't that good, which makes we quite concerned for the rest of the production. A lot of it was wobbly or out of focus, so we might have to re-film to make it as good as possible. We got footage from the LRC as well which shows students working and chatting. We are trying to get as much different and interesting content from all over the college, which is why we aren't sticking to one area. This is also just stick footage that can be used by anyone. This will be useful for my classmates and college students in the footage. Afterward...

Regan, Tim and I were asked to go and film at Greenwich college. While it we were expecting it to take the whole day it was a short filming session because the college was so small and there wasn't a lot of content to film and include. We took 2 cameras with us so that we would get a large amount of footage despite the lack of activity going on. We started by filming an individual student controlling a horse. We got close ups and long shots of this same activity of the student adn the horse. We then filmed a larger group of students riding horses in one of the colleges main buildings. The covered space was a really nice place to film. We wanted to get a huge variety of shots so that we would have a lot to include. We filmed a lot of students faces, and horses feet to see what each participant was doing with the horse. The students are meant to be the focus of the video which is why we collected more footage of them. Afterwards we filmed a dog which is well known by all the students...
